Tour Details

Filled with crumbling, camera-friendly ruins, Bangladesh’s old capital of Sonargaon has long been a popular Dhaka day-trip destination.

Just one and half an hours outside of the city, Sonargaon was the eastern capital of Bengal at various times in history. It slipped into decline when Mughal rulers decided to shift their capital to Dhaka in the 17th century, and now is a little more than a couple of villages with scattering of ruins. It makes an excellent day trip from Dhaka bringing together countryside, culture archeology and adventure in one easily accessible package.

In our one day Sonargaon Museum & Panam City Tour, you will visit some of the most amazing destinations including Sonargaon, Folk Art and Crafts Museum, Panam City (Panam Nagar) to see the beautifully decorated buildings constructed around the end of 18th century, Goaldi Mosque, abandoned hindu temples, a primary school made of bamboo and life at a char (small river island) in the third largest River Meghna by country boat allowing you to see traditional life of farmers in Bangladesh.
